Traditions and Transitions marks an anniversary the architects of the United Reformed Church could not have imagined. They were proud that the formation of the church in October 1972 was the first union of distinct and different Protestant Churches in the UK since the Reformation. The United Reformed Church was to be a stepping stone to another place. But that did not happen, for reasons explored in this book.
Edited by, and with contributions from, David Cornick and Robert Pope, the book contains essays from Fleur Houston, Stephen Orchard, Michael Hopkins, Margaret Thompson, David M Thompson, Elizabeth Welch, Kirsty Thorpe, David R Peel and Elaine S Colechin, as well as further reading and a glossary of abbreviations.
